Aiken, Donna Jean, 60, of Middlebourne, WV formerly of Paden City, WV died peacefully Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her home.

Donna was born August 3, 1953 in New Martinsville, WV daughter of Donald Slider and the late Janetta Ruth (Moore) Slider.

She was most recently employed as a bookkeeper for The Paul Wissmach Glass Company in Paden City until she began her long and courageous battle with cancer in January 2005. She volunteered for Journey Hospice, worked with the Adams House Ministry and loved to travel, which included several visits to her son in Alaska who serves in the U.S. Air Force. She also worked for over twenty years in the banking industry with various local banks. Donna was a member of Middlebourne United Methodist Church and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Paden City for many years. She was extremely proud of her children and was an inspiration to many as she battled cancer for over nine years, while living life to the fullest.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are her husband of twenty four years, Tim Aiken; son, Matthew Carse of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Allison Carse of Weirton, WV; sister, Joyce (Norman) Trowbridge of Pataskala, OH; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Pauline Aiken of Carnegie, PA and several special nephews.

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Paden City where a Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., Monday June 9, 2014 with Pastors Judy Vetter and Dennis Mehaffie co-officiating.

Private interment in Paden Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made, in Donna’s name, to Journey Hospice, 314 S Wells St., Sistersville, WV 26175 or Adams House, 304 East Street, Middlebourne, WV 26149.
