A. Charlene Hafer, 86, of New Martinsville, WV died Saturday, October 8, 2016 while at Genesis New Martinsville.

Charlene was born April 23, 1930 in Kodal, WV, daughter of the late Fred and Ella (Phillips) Stoneking.

She was a member of the Proctor Christian Church where she served as Deaconess and was active in the Christian Womens' Fellowship and Vacation Bible School. She was a retired employee of WesBanco Bank, member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, the Moose Women's Auxiliary, member of the Red Hat Society, and a graduate of Moundsville High School. She had many hobbies but especially loved flower gardening, cooking, and painting Christmas pillows for all her friends and family. Charlene was active in her community and loved by many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Schrader Ballouz.

Surviving are her husband of sixty-seven years, Jack W. Hafer; daughter Jane (Dwight Law) Hafer of New Martinsville; son Steven (Sue) Hafer of Proctor, WV; sister, Betty Littell of Warren, OH; brother, Phil (Barb) Stoneking of New Martinsville, WV and four grandchildren, Anorah Charlene (Sky Sager) Schostag, Ryan Schostag, Margeau Hafer and Ashley Hafer; and many nieces and nephews.

At Charlene’s request private services were held for the family.

Interment at the family’s convenience in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery in Proctor, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Charlene’s name, to Genesis Activities Department, 225 Russell Ave., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
