Arthur T. Durig, 86, of Silver Hill, WV, went to be with his wife of 59 years, Shirley Durig on Sunday, August 6, 2017 while at the Cameron Nursing and Rehab Center in Cameron, WV.

Arthur was born December 17, 1930 on Macedonia Ridge, Wetzel County, WV, son of the late George T. and Ester Inez (Yocum) Durig.

He was a retired farmer working his own land, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, loved farming, timbering, built houses for different families, a block layer, member of the American Legion Cameron Post 18 and member of the Mt. Joy Methodist Church – he loved being outside in God’s creation.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lemoyne and Terrell Durig; sister, Reva Mason and brother-in-law, Kermit Mason.

Surviving are his daughter, Patricia (Jeff) Taylor of Moundsville, WV; four sons, David A. (Bonnie) Durig of New Martinsville, WV, Neal (Susan) Durig of Dallas, WV, Kevin (Kathie) Durig and Daniel (Rhonda) Durig both of New Martinsville, WV; sister, Carrie Neely of New Martinsville, WV; six grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Arthur’s request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Silver Hill VFD on Rt. 89, with a dinner afterwards.

The Honor Guard will conduct military service.
