Obituary for Leland A. "Lee" Harlan

Leland “Lee:” A. Harlan, 68, a lifelong resident of Paden City was born August 7, 1949 in New Martinsville, WV and he died Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Sistersville, WV.

Lee was preceded in death by his father Albert “Abe” Harlan; mother, Edith (Miller) Harlan Blatt; step-father, Wilbert Blatt; ex-wife and life time companion, Karen Harlan Wright.

Surviving are two brothers, Garry (Anita) Harlan of New Martinsville, WV and Denny Harlan of Sardis, OH; children, Matthew Harlan, Mike (Bobbi) Harlan, John Jay Wright, Jodi (Allen) Keller; step-daughter, Pam (Randy) Riggenbach; granddaughters, Carli Harlan and Tara Kaye (Chris) Kent, grandson and best buddy, Justin Lee (Suzie) Nichols; great grandchildren, Ryan Kent, Easton Kent, Brooklyne Kent, Maddie (Bossy Boots) Nichols and Jaxson Nichols.

Lee was a SP4 in the U.S. Army having served as a military policeman. He was a retired coal miner for Consolidated Coal #4 mine.

He was a passionate sports fan rooting for the Pittsburgh Pirates and especially his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

Friends received 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, where service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017 with Martin Coffey officiating. Interment to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, with the Honor Guard conducting graveside services.

The family is requesting memorial contributions to be made, in Lee’s name, to Wetzel County Animal Shelter, 99 Mollahan Dr., New Martinsville, WV 26155. Lee had a soft spot in his heart for any stray or abused animal.
