Shirley Virginia Hood, 76, of New Martinsville, WV died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her son’s home while surrounded by her family.

Shirley was born April 5, 1941 in New Martinsville, WV; daughter of the late Virgil and Ortie (Davis) Hassig.

She was a homemaker, she had been a sales clerk for the former Sam Sadds, Thomas Drug Store and Shouldis Department Store; she loved talking with people, taking car rides and doing doughnuts in a truck; and a member of Limestone United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles “Bill” Hassig.

Surviving are four sons, Tim Hood, David (Scarlet) Hood and Jason (Bernadette) Hood all of New Martinsville, WV and Todd Hood of Paden City, WV; nine grandchildren, Micheal, Devin, Shelden, Victoria, Julianne, Nathaniel, Kadence, Elijah and Noah; two sisters, Joan Briggs of Chester, WV and Jean Keith of New Martinsville, WV.

Friends received 1-3 and 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville where service will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, December 26, 2017 with Don Rush officiating.

Burial to be held at the convenience of the family in Northview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Shirley’s name, to Limestone United Methodist Church, %Elizabeth Mullett, 3073 Doolin Run Rd, New Martinsville, WV 26155.
