Obituary for Dencil "Joe" Henthorn

Dencil “Joe” Henthorn, Jr., 69, of New Martinsville, WV died peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2018 at his home.

Joe was born March 17, 1949 in New Martinsville, WV; son of the late Dencil and Goldie Blanch (Cain) Henthorn, Sr.

He was a retired instrument supervisor for AEP-Mitchell Plant, a US Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War, a 1967 graduate of Valley High School, member of New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931, Elm Grove VFW Unit #442, New Martinsville American Legion Marne Post #28, past president-Kamer Mitchell Veterans Association, past president Woodland Hills Recreation Club, former Grasshopper Basketball and Little League Baseball coach and member of Limestone United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Paddy “Rink” Henthorn and sister, Estal Fannie Loy.

Surviving are his wife of forty-three years, Mary Beth (Cain) Henthorn; son, Brian J. (Meredith) Henthorn of Spring, TX; two brothers, Terry (Rochelle) Henthorne of Pine Grove, WV and Randy (Mary) Henthorne of Olalla, WA; four sisters, Betty M. Hostutler of North Ridgeville, OH, Vesta G. Kesler of Washington Court House, OH, Viola K. (Ron) Newman of Paden City, WV and A. Arlene (Fred) Arnett of Newport, OH; brother-in-law, George “Mick” Loy of Alliance, OH and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, where service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 with Pastor Don Rush officiating.

Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.

Honor Guard to conduct graveside services.
