Obituary for Charla Kay Jobes (Johnson)

Charla Kay Jobes, 71, of New Martinsville, WV died suddenly February 13, 2019 while at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.

Charla was born August 3, 1947 in New Martinsville, WV; daughter of the late Charles Johnson and Betty (Howell) Johnson-Klug.

Charla was a truly genuine and one of a kind woman. She bore a heart of gold and it blazed with a feisty fire that matched her signature red hair. Always one to strike up a conversation, there was rarely a stranger when she was around. Charla made everyone feel like family, and fed countless mouths and souls with her delicious home cooking and endless love. To many she was “Mom”, “MamMam” or “a very dear friend”. She was an ultimate source of love and endless laughter and will be missed by many. Daily phone calls, family gatherings, and warm crowded kitchens will never be the same.

She was a member of New Martinsville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 28, New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931 and First Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Jobes; step-father, Urban Klug; daughter, Stephanie Weekley Underwood and grandson, Devon Phillips.

Surviving are her daughter, Anissa (Tony) Williams of Paden City, WV; step-daughter, Becky Jobes of New Martinsville, WV; brother, Chuck (Susie Wade) Johnson of New Martinsville, WV; two sisters, Barbara (Bill) Starkey of New Martinsville, WV and Pam (Bill) Locke of Paden City, WV; four grandchildren, Hannah (Clinton) Weekley Carlin, Bree (Eric) Williams Estep, Mikayla (Ethan) Phillips Garrison and Maci Underwood; two step grandchildren, Nathan Ritchie and Haley (Matt) Austin; three great grandchildren, Jobey Carlin, Anistyn Carlin and Lily Garrison; four step-great grandchildren, Oliver Ritchie, Carter Austin, Beckham Austin and Kasen Austin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
